[From Our Oicn Correspondent.]

KAIPARORO.

During the past week several of the most severe frosts experienced for some years Imvc been recoided. Warm rain-would now be welcome, sk it would probably remove a great deal jof the snow from the ranges, and frosts would then not be so likely to continue. With the improvement in the weather, outdoor work is being pushed on , more expeditiously. The sawmill has i been especially busy, and heavy loads of timber have been sent away during the week. The monthly meeting of the School Committee, which was to have been held on the sth inst., was postponed for a week. The work in the schoolgrounds has now been a? ,r they present a decidedly improved appearance. A quiet but pretty wedding was solemnised in the hall on August, fit.'2 o'clock, when Miss Beatrice Falkner eldest daughter of Mr A. 1* alkner, was united in the holy bonds of matrimony to Mr Kenneth McKenzic, formerly a well-known and popular resident of Eketahuna. The hall had been decorated for the occasion by friends of the bride—a prominent feature of the decorations being a'-i arch over the doorway, bearing in silver letters, surmounted by horse-shoes the words: "Good Luck." The. ceremony was performed by the llov Mcßfiin, oi Eketahuna. The bride, who was given away -by her father, was charmingly attired in white silk poplin, trimmed with rich lace, and she wore the customary veil and orange blossom, and carried a shower bouquet.' She was attended iby her two sisters Misses Marv and Violet Falkner, the former weaving a pretty frock of champagne poplin, with black hat trimmed with roses, and the latter grey poplin and black picture hat. Both the bridesmaids carried shepherds crooks, piettily adorned with white flowers. Mr I J. Bright acted as best man. ..The mother of the bride were a pretty grey costume and black hat. After the ceremony a reception was held at Mi Fa lienor's residence. The happy couple left in the evening en route for their new homo in Wairoa, the bride travelling outfit being a neat brown costume with hat to match. Hie piesents received were numerous and costly, and testified to the high esteem in which both bride and bridegroom :are held through the district. ' In the j evening Mr and Mrs Falkner entertained the residents of Kaiparoro '.■■■ a very enjoyable social in the hall, and oil the succeeding day the school children were given afternoon te.a, and each child was presented with a bag of lollies. Before dispersing, the children, whose faces plainly showed that they' had enjoyed their share in the proceedings, gave three hearty cheers for Mr and Mrs Falkner. It is reported that another wedding is to take place here early next month. The Kaiparoro bachelors are issuing invitations for a plain and fancy dre?s ball, which is to ho given on the 29th of tin's month. As this is > always the best dance of the season, it, is looked forward to with a. good deal of pleasant anticipation. The usual euchre tournament, and daneo took place in the hall on Saturday night, there being a very fair ) attendance.

Miss Jago returned last Saturday from a pleasant holiday of four months duration, spent with friends in Christchurch and Dunedin.
