In connection with the visit to Russia of the French Prime Minister, M. Poincare, German torpedoes awaited the entry to the Baltic of the steamer conveying M. Poincare. Subsequently four battleships appeared at intervals in the course of the afternoon, saluted with nineteen guns, and hoisted the French "flag. This elaborate courtesy is commented upon by tloo French Press.
According to the paper G-rulois, the Kaiser is -aware that the Russian Government and M. Poincare are about to discuss how far it will be riossible for the Triple Entente (Trance, Russia, and Britain), to eo-operafce with the Triple Alliance (Germany, Staly. and Austria) with, a view to co»-*non pacific action.
