THE EARTHQUAKE
FIFTEEN THOUSAND HOMELESS
MANY VILLAGES IN RUINS

CONSTANTINOPLE, August 12. Fifteen thousand persons uro homeless, as a result of tho earthquakes. Amplo food, medicine and tents have been sent, chiefly by Greeks.
Many fires originated through the overturning of lamps. I A thousand injured persons have been admitted to tho hospitals. The returns concerning the loss of life are still incomplete. Many villages are now a smoking stack of ruins. THE LOSS OF LIFE. The latest estimate of the loss of life is 60 killed at Nyriophito, 150 at Hora and Ganos, 20 at Udjoinakoroh, and 60 killed and 150 injured at Sharkeny. The thermal springs at Dedesgatch have dried up. Fissures opened in tlv* earth at Luleberg for a distanco of 1500 yards, emitting sand, hot Mater and sulphurous vapours.

FOUR SOLDIERS BURIED ALIVE

CONSTANTINOPLE. August 11. Tho Yali at Adrianoplo reports that the earthquake and the fires caused great loss of life and personal injuries to many. There was havoc in the N.vriophito and Shar-koi districts on Saturday. Necessaries have been sent forward.
The shock lasted for upwards of a minute.
Tho courthouse, police station, and other public buildings in Shar-koi were seriously damaged. Tho minarets on seven mosques and a number of shops and dwellings collapsed.

CONSTANTINOPLE. August 11
The earthquake caused the explosion of a lamp at Tehlorlu and a serious conflagration resulted. Three hundred houses have already been destroyed. Turkish warships at the? Dardnelles felt the shock. It was first imagined that it originated through Italian torpedoes. •There have been many fatalities ashore duo to tho subsequent fires.
