THE LATEST PROPOSAL. , l .' • At the 'meeting of the''committee of the Masterton A. and. P. Association on Saturday last, a letter was read from "Mr Edwin H'all, secretary of the N.Z.,. Agricultural' stating that several secretaries had approved of' 1 the proposal to organise a National Agricultural Society for the Dominion, but it was not unanimously accepted, one or two important associations having expressed the opinion that it would Jje inadvisable to form a Royal Society at present on account of the geographical configuration of the Dominion. The Haw--ke' Bay' Society had suggested that, further steps be taken to promote a< union of all "the Agricultural Societies,, to be governed by a council, and it. was asked that-thisv Association-, ex-, press ani.oninion on the subject. Mr W. Perry said a good deal had! been said of late about forming a Board of Agriculture. This question* it was thought, might come before a national institution. Mr t'erry p 1 " • ge-sted that a conference of representatives of Associations in the southern portion of the Wellington province bo held, to discuss this and kindred questions. Successful conference-.: )•"'! been held at Chvistchurch and Auckland. He . moved that a committee consisting of Messrs H. J. Strang, D. McGregor and the mover be set up to consult with representatives fof other Associations on the question of holding a conference before the annual conference. The resolution was seconded by Mr D. McGregor and carried.
