WELLINGTON JUNIORS v. WAI- 1 RARAPA. WELLINGTON, Last Night. The Rugby junior representatives of Wellington and Wairarapa played their annual fixture on No. 2 Athletic Park on aSturday. On the appearance of the teams the visitors looked to have no> chance, the Wellingto side being a very powerful combination', and Ki eluded at least half a dozen who had played senior football, and played it well. Wairarapa sent down a light'lot, and they found their heavier opponents hard; to handle, in the hard work. While; their condition remained the country lads put up a reasonably worthy game. Individual members of the' team showed flashes of form, but they were mostly _iso-> fated, and unsupported. Notwithstanding all that has been written the game was always" interesting. In the first spell the local backs were much the superior and in the scrums the blacks, pushed their opponents. The greens were hopelessly outclassed. In tho second spell Wairarapa (green) created a small surprise by rushing play immediately after starting t-, Wellington end, where Foreman kicked a nice penalty goal. Wairarapa 3, Wellington nil. Ryan used his experienced pace and kept the gree:: rushing backward. Matson, Nix. nr Connell stopped several attack. Thus it was seen that the defence was frail and uncertain. From a scrum near the corner flag Eliffe ran through and over, no goal resulting. Wellington 3, Wairarapa 3. Hall, a ponderous forward and surprisingly active for all his great bulk, made a'gallant attempt to kick a goal from half way. The direct was excellent, but the ball dropped under tho bar. Whitley scored the next try for "Wellington, after a dodgy run in. Ryan Wellington 8. Wairarlipa 3. Enting (with a trv) and made Wellington 13 3 at half time. Wairarapa simply faded away after the interval, and never had a look in. Most of the second spell they were fighting ingloriously on or about their nmv line. Enting and Luoni (2), Guthrie. Millar, Rvan and Whitley scored on this spell. McGirr converted one, and Whitley three of the trie's. Gallon.. Hart, Foreman. Dash. F. Cndwaljader were best of the losers. Mr A. Niolson -was referee.
