Cr. A. J. Gibbs has been appointed Major of Fox ton in succession to Mr G. H, Stiles, resigned.
Messrs V. Richards and A. Eddie, of the Masterton Post Office staff, leave this afternoon to spend their annual leave in the South Island.
Mr W. C. Buchanan, M.P., has been elected chairman of the Agricultural and Stock Committees in the House of Representatives.
The citizens of Tauranga have decided to invite the Hon \Y. H. ITcrries, and other members cf the Ministry, to pay a visit to the district, and attend complimentary banquet.
Rev A. T. Thompson. 8.A.. 8.J)., of Masterton, will conduct both the services at the Presbyterian Church, Ekctahuna, to-morrow.
Mr Frank Levy, advance representative of the Maggie Moore Company, is at present in Masterton rnakinr arrangements for thefappearanee of the company in "Mrs on Friday evening next.
The following are freely rumoured as intending candidates for the Egmont by-election: Messrs Duncan Scdtt (Opposition), Frank Parrel (Labour), C. E. Wilkinson and B. Dive ("Government), and J. E. Moosman (Independent).
