TO-DAY'S WEATHER
(By Telegraph—Press Association.) q. WELLINGTON, Last Night. The Rev. D. 0. Bates, of the Meteo? rologioal Office, this evening issued thf following report:— A westerly area of low pressure now envelops the country, and the barometer has fallen low in the south. Westerly winds prevail, and gales are reported from several stations in the South Island. The weather has proved very unsettled in the south. and rain has fallen on the West Coast, and in Southland. Present indications are for westerly winds, strong to gale, veering to southerly shortly. Cold and showery weather is probable generally with heavy rain on the: West Coast, and ynow on higher levels. The barometer is very unsteady in the eoutih, but is likely to fill again to-morrow before a decided rise take* nlace.
