Westerly winds have predominated, bur southerlics now prevail in tho north and south-east. A gale is reported at East Cape this afternoon. Considerable rain has fallen on tho East Coast of the North Island. Present indications arc for a falling barometer in tho southern districts, and little movement iit,present in.the north. Winds v, ill probably back to Aveshvard and increase r;i force, ■especially 1 : southward of Kawhia and Castlepoint, for a storm area appears to lie approaching from the Avestivard. Increasing haze and cloudiness is probable generally Avith rain folloAving over most parts of the country.
