- 9 WILD ENTHUSIASM DISPLAYED. (Received Last Night, 11.5 o'clock.) CHICAGO, August 6. The opening session of the National Progressive Party's Convention at the Coliseum was marked by Avild •.nthusiasm. After prayer, Senator Bereridgo, the temporary chairman, attacked tho boss-ridden old parties of professiou.il politicians, and stated the issue wan that of social brotherhood versus s:u'age industrialism. Mr Roosevelt appeared at tlie session and was accorded an enthusiastic reception. The Chicago Convention expelled the Southern negroes, who indignantly appealed to Mr Roosevelt.
