The Department Inns received the following cablegram from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, dated London, 3rd August, 1912. (.Nore — Quotations, unless otherwise specified, are average market prices on spot):—
General—-The strike has. terminated and work will be resumed. Mutton —The market is quiet but firm. Canterbury, 3|d to 4-jjd, according to finality j North Iylaral, 3,-d to 4Jd Lamb—The market is weakening with signs cf a decline. A largo feupply. Canterbury, skl to 6d per lb, other than Canterbury, od to old.
Beef—The market i<s dull. N.Z. hinds 3sd per lb ; fores 3 ; ', d.
Butter—The market is firm. There is. a general active demand for best quality. The average price for the week for choicest New Zealand butter per cwt is 116s, Australian Ills, Dani."h 128, Siberian 108s.
Cheese—The market is firm, with more enquiry. N.Z. white, 65-f. Gd per cwt., coloured, 66s 6d.
