The wicket was soft and tricky. • Kelieway and Matthews continued their stand, adding 30 more before they were separated. The next three wickets added nothing. Then Emery and Whitty made a stand, the ninth ■wicket adding 15. Emery and Webster added 22 for the last wicket. Derbyshire made a poor stand, Matthews proving tlte destructive agency. Morton alone made any showing. He batted for a hundred minutes. Humphries gave a fair display. The Australians in their second innings, have lost five wickets for 62.
