A Beef-ton wire states that MrFagaii, the present secretary to theMiners' Union, was re-elected by an< overwhelming majority. Mr Robert MeXab, of Faimerston North, left Wellington by the Maitai for Sydney on Friday'last. He purposes conducting some research work at the Mitchell Library.
Mr Frank Tait. a son of Mr and Mrs M. B. Tait,'of Featherston, is now in Feilding, where he is to have chargo of the motor cycle mail delivery service being instituted by the Pos-tal'Depart-mont in that district. ])r Palmer, of Featherston, who, with bis wife and daughter, went Homo by he last trip of the Somerset, is doing post-graduate work at the London hospitals, and expects to beso engaged for soine time to come. Miss Palmer is studying music wilder Professor Pollard, of the Royal Academy of Music.
Commissioner Richards, head of the Salvation Army in New Zealand, arrived in Mastcrton on Saturday. Ho was met at the railway station by a large number of local and visiting «d~. vationists and marched to- the ArmyBarracks, where -a reception servicewas hekl. Open air meetings were held on Saturday and Sunday, and onSunday evening a large meeting wan conducted in the Masterton Town Kail in honour of the Commissioner's visit. 'file proceedings were of. a most enthusiastic nature, and,much good should result from th evisit of Commissioner Richards to Mastcrton.
