A BILL PROMISED. • * > (By Telegraph—Press WELLINGTON, Last Night. Replying to a question in the House of Representatives this afternoon, t-ho Hon. A. L. Herdim-an said zealous junior police officers were given every opportunity to gain promotion in th« force. Where there were 840 men in the force, it was impossible to satisfy everyone. Young men with ability, Avho had brains, nnrSlt have them considered. Replying to Mr Wilford, the Minister said a new Police Bill was being considered by the Crown Law Officers-, in which a clause had been inserted, giving police officers the right to have their grievances ventilated.. The clause was, in reality, an appeal from the decision of officers who did not hold liigh rank in the service.
