THE EAST COAST RAILWAY.
The. meeting held in Masterto'n laat night was ltfrge and repi*eseiutative. It was alfeo unanimous on the point that the time had arrived when the Easlt Coast shoujld he opened! by railway. The only poinU on. which there wi:.)s a divergence of opinion was as to terminals. Although the meeting carried a resolution favouring the construction! of a line 'between' Masterton and Waipuknran, it praidtically left the final decisiion as to route to the Government surveyors. What is noTf required is a deputation representative of the whole country-side, to
urge the. CD/jims of the Coast, upon the Governm'ent. Once the hece&sity for tlio continuance of the East Coast dme dan be impressed upon MinyatOTS, the question of terminals will speedily bo decidied. Let i:»s go for the j?ubsf/-inc.e, and leave iihe obadow to others.
