WOMEN AND CHILDREN.
There is troom 'in Mastarton, as in a.U other important centres of the Dominion, for a branch of the "Society for the Promotion of the Health of Women and Children." The following circular, issued .by the Health Department, tersely explains the objects of tho Society : (1) To die«s£m.ifn.ato accurate informjation on matters affecting tho health of women and children iby means of 'lectures, drtmonistrations, pamphlets, correspondence, teaching in the home, otherwise; ! (2) to uphold the 'sacredness of j the body wild the duty of health; to'inculcate a lofty view of the iresponsihiliities of maternity and the duty of every mother to fit herself for the porfect fulfilment of all the natural 'calib of motherhood, both before and after child-birth; (3) to provide and employ .specially trained onu-'se-D ready at any time to give advice and imsttuiction' to mothers, ini the hemic or elsewhere, with a view to conserving the health and istirength of the rising generation, aiud retndering both mother and offspring 'hardy, healthy and rcIs'isbivo to disease. We should bo glad to see steps taker ini the direction of forming a> branch ' of this Society in Mastc/rtno. Possibly arrangements) could be mado for a lecture here by Dir T'ruby King, who is touring the Dominion just now under the auspices of the Public Health Department- J
