GRAFT CHARGES

NEW YORK POLICE AI<D GAMBLING DENS. SEQUEL TO A MURDER CASE. . (Received July 28, 11 a.m.) NEW YORK, July 27. In connection with the murder of Hermann Rosenthal, a noted gambler who recently charged the police with "graft,"an investigation showed that no gambling dens can remain open in New York except with the connivance of policemen, who received large sums in the form of "graft." The District-Attorney, Mr Whitman, asserts that every man participating in the murder has been located except one, the chauffeur of the automobile in which the assassins escaped. Those arrested have confessed their identity, and the authorities are giving them "the "third degree," with ' the object of securing full details of the crime. New York is greatly worked up over the Rosenthal case, which reveals the existence of unparalleled corruption in the police force.
