UNREGISTERED BARMAIDS

Margaret Mcintosh, licensee of the Royal Tiger Hotel, was charged in the Magistrate's Court to-du'y with having employed an unregistered (barmaid. The case- for the prosecution was that Miss.Millie Wilson, bookkeeper, was detected! hy the police sc-rvKng in the , bar. - This was admitted by Mr Wilford, who conducted the defence, but the point was raised that 'sflie was. serving in a private bar. The ba-r in wihiidh she was serving did not open, on to .a istreet, and was not a bar as defined in the Act. The Magistrate (Mr -W. 'G. ,Riddell) dismissed the informatlion.
