NATIONAL PROVIDENT FUND.
In their fiinsit annual report on tilie National Provident Fund, the Chairman of the Board and trio Superintendent say:—"lt ig, of course, a unique feature of the scheme that the expenses are paid out of the Consolidated »Pund, and .not oiit of tlhe pockets of itlhe ccntri.ibutc.rs." Yes, it is unique. ;-n u'liioue. indeed, that a Legislature wfaich [permits, it is perpetrating _ a glaring injustice nipon'the non-contrib-uting sections of the community.' The contributors to the National Provident Fund have no more right to have the expenses of management of that fund ipalid out of the consolidated'revenue than have the beneficiaries under the Government Life lixnranee Act or the various- biranditl-. of the Civil Ser'vr.ee w.hic breceive superannuation.. It ■is a monstrous tiling idnit the Dominion should) be burdened witQi the expenses of scheme which fo to'benefit only a small section of tho •jommuuity.
