THE LABOUR PARTY.
A few (months back the "Labour Four" in the New Zealand Parliament exercised a dominating influence over the politics .of the country. They ■were in a position that they could I "command." The happy issue of events of a week oi' two ago, however, has made Labour almost a.* unknown quantity in the halls of State. And yet the army of workers are deserving of consideration. They are not an unimportant section of the convmuiiiity, and have a distinct claim upon whatever, .party tmay be in power. It is quite a mistake to suppose that because 'Mr M'assey is under no obligation to the workers in the sense that his three predecessors were -under an obligation, he will not deal justly by the "toilers. The srnye of common justice which -actuates the Prime Minister will prevent the interests of the [.jorest .man in the-Stat? being neglected. But >betwee,n justice and the pandering, to a. class there is a wide j gulf. Labour will not ibe permitted to rum riot with things, as it hay dene j in the past.
