TWO MEN COMMIT SUICIDE
STRIKE LEADERS' PROTEST

LONDON, July 12
Two strikers who proposed resuming unloading wool discovered that they had lost their permanent status, and committed suicide. Three hundred of their comrades thereupon struck again. Lord Devonport is conferring with the Prime Minister and Mr Sydney Buxton (president of the Board of Trade). The strike leaders have issued a protest. Thoy accuse Lord Devonport of prevarication, insolence, and malignity, in trying to destroy the unions by a process of starvation.
MEN DEMAND RELIEF
STRIKE MOVEMENT DEFEATED. Received This morning, 12.30 o'clock. LONDON, July 14. Four hundred dockers, with Federation tickets in their hats, with their wives and children, formed a procession in the East End to a workhouse, where the women dropped out. The men demanded outdoor relief, and were refused. Three hundred entered the workhouse. Many refused porridge, and were supplied with other food.
IHie fltirilte movement hm been clearly defeated, and is now merely seeking to save the face of the leaders.
