THE COMMISSIONS.
What will Ibo the aft etude of the xiew Governmcint towards the three Commissions now sitting in New Zealand? 'Neither th? Government nor Parliament are .bound to take special "cognizance of the repo''- of either. It : is hardly to be expected that, important legislation will ibe framed on the 1 report of a Comma nsion constituted as the .Cost of Living 'Commission is. Nor should wo -suppose that the Prime iMjinlster will be .'ipecially guided by the finding of the Civil Service Commission. The 'Education Comimismm, (however, .which appears to be doing its work -thoroughly, may a&sit't Parliament in arriving at a satisfactory solution of the educationa l ! 'problems which require immediate atten.tion. .Taking the iCtammissionD as a whole, it is isafe to <say that they will have pi'oved that costly farce wliieh most people expected them to be.
