PRICE OF POTATOES

DUNEDIN, Last Night. The. high price of potatoes is explained by the large shipments to Sydney yesterday. The Moeraki took about GOOO tons, while the Waihora, sailing from the Bluff to-day, will ship 800 tons, making 1400 tons for the week. For New Zealand potatoes, Sydneyites are giving about £lO per ton, while the local price is about i'G. A comprehensive list of "charges" consumes £2 10s of the difference, a itd 30s remains as the prospective profit. Most of the potatoes are being sent on consignment.
