Mr J. Orbell, a past President of the Otago A. and P. Association, is at present a visitor to Masterton.
The Hon. W. H. Hemes will reach Wellington on his return from England this morning:
District Nurse Gates is at present in the Pongaroa district, where she will probably be stationed if suitable accommodation can be found.
The following are at present visitors at the Club Hotel in Masterton : —Mr Roberts, Mr and Mrs Hayward, Mr and Mrs Blundell, Mr Cramp, Mr and Mrs Groves, Messrs Badhara, Foss, Kinvig, Loatham, Beamish, Tin gey, Schaefer. Mitchell, "Hindmarsh, Mr and Mrs Dalziell, Mr and Mrs Maunsell, ancl Mr Reid, S.M.
Mr B. Brunton, of Masterton, has been selected as one of the fourteen cadets to proceed to Canada. Originally twenty cadets were chosen, but this number had to be reduced by six.
Two of Rangitikei's oldest settlers passed away on Sunday, Mr James Wilson, of Makino, aged 83 years, and Mrs Taylor, wife of Mr John Taylor, Upper Tutaenui, aged 92. The for-. mer had an eventful career. He was born in Ireland, and came to New Zealand 67 years ago with the 05th Regiment. A pretty wedding was celebrated in Knox Church, Masterton, yesterday afternoon, when Mr Sydney Edward Taylor, or Northern Wairoa, only son of Mrs Ed.ward Hutchingson Taylor, of North Shields, England, was married to Miss Olive Hood, fourth daughter of Mr and Mrs Frank Hood, of Kohatu, Masterton. The ceremony was. performed by the Rev. A. T. Thompson, 8.A., B.D. The bride, who was attired in a dress of cream satin, with veil and orange blossoms, was given away by her father. Miss Fleda Hood, sister of the bride, who acted as bridesmaid, was daintily dressed in cream serge. Mr Monte Iggidden was best man. At the conclusion of the ceremony, a large number of guests were entertained at Miss Thomas' Wenvoe tea-rooms. The newly-married couple left for Wellington by the afternoon train, en route for their homo in the north.
