CONFLICT WITH THE POLICE

PARIS, July 6. The strikers at Havre stoned the police station and gendarmes. Rioters ransacked the steamer Ville Isigny. Gendarmes and infantry surprised the looters, who fought desperately. They entered houses and maintained the attack from the windows. Eventually they retired on the arrival of reinforcements.
