CARTERTON.
The Waararapa Egg Circle will pay out over £l7O to its members for tho past month.
A very pleasant and successful ooncert was held ait Dale-field on Tuesday evening, w'hen there was a large attendance of redd cuts" and visitors. | The concert programme was splendidly rendered, each item bringing forth an encore. Misses V. Savors, R. Bambry, M. Watcrran, S. Whyte, L. ; 'Armstrong, Mrs A. Smith, Matters B. and H. Big-hop, and Messrs .Cartel*;, dark, and. Saunders contributed items-. The 'Misses Neilisen contributed a pianoforte duet, and supplied; tibe music for the dance, which was : lield subsequently. Mislses V. Sayers 'and R. MeKenzie played' extras. On Tuesday, a meeting was held at itlio Carrington'. dairy factory of .settlers interested in tho extension of tho telephone to Carrington and West Taratabi. Some twenty settlers attended, and Mr E. A. S'hrimpton, telegraph engineer, was also present. Mr W. B. Allen presided, and after discussion; it was arranged that there should be two groups of settlers on the Chester Road line (six leach, that being the limit for each wire). On. No. 1 wire, commencing at ClareviJle, will be:— Messrs W. B\, Allen, W. H. Kempton, A. W. Midler,I Oarringitdn' factory, a. E. Hooker ancl G. E. Allen. On No. 2 wire, Messrs. E. W. Allen, A. Bishop, Jas. Reid, R. E. Reid', W. H. Wilton and Parkeir. Three/ other Carrington settlers are anxious to join in the scheme, but until tihey can get three others to come in with them to make up a group, they 'have to be left out, or Ibear the 1 whole cost of the wire themselves,
