A NUMBER OF ARRESTS.

AUCKLAND ,Last Night,
•The Police Cc/uirt was crowded this morning, <whcn four men, who were ilast week arrested on charges amounting to burglary, ware brought before Mr Cttbteii, S.M. Erosst Kwvh-nii-te and.Cdias. Murphy (alias Reynolds) 'appeared on a, charge of ".breaking and entering the Clarendon Hotel by night aw the 27ith June, with intent to commit a •crime. With them rappeiared also Jais. Grant and Paul 'Eugene' Serim, w'lio were jointly charged with brea'kimg and entering {the (store of J.Eillyett at Mt. Eden .on, 12th May, a<nd stealing £3O. Serim ,was further charged solely that on 7fch 'June lie broke into and entered the jOOU'iiitiifng-house of Cousins and Atkins ,«t Mechanics Bay, with intent to ieo.mim.ifc a crime. Jointly with Murphy, he was ciiargcd that on 20th June he broke into ami entered t ; ie t&'ineat Northern Brewery premises ;wMi intenfb to comiiroU » crime. On ithe application, of Chief Detective '.Muii-sack , accused were remanded for a weVk. Scrim, Grant 'and Murphy Risked for bail, but {.'he amplication was ifcfuscd.
