Immediately there was wild confusion. Mr Woodrow Wilson's supportera dashed into tho hall, hugging each other, while weary delegates stood on chairs shouting madly.
The nomination should have been made by acclamation only. The delegates of New York and Missouri were unmoved. The roll-call revealed 990 votes for Mr Woodrow Wilson, and 84 for Mr Champ Clark, which immediately changed to a unanimous vote. Mr W. J. Bryan was non-committal-He said that what was wanted most was the nomination of a progressive candidate.
The Times' Baltimore correspondent says that Mr Woodrow Wilson is a good campaigner. He is a brilliant debater, and is bound to attract most of that restless spirit which is hankering after reform. Mr Roosevelt will be confronted with a rival as progressive as himself.
