THE GOVERNOR'S SPEECH,

The Governor's Speech at the opening of the State Parliament, in refering to the recent strike, foreshadowed legislation to deal with possible future contingencies of the sort. It also ' - timated that it would be necessary to float a loan on the London market at an early date. Measures were promised dealing, among other things, with amendments of the liquor and industrial laws, and with the development of mining.
