REGINA TORNADO
CUTS A LANE TWO MILES LONG
MARVELLOUS ESCAPES RECORDED. (Received July 3, 10 a.m.) VANCOUVER, July 2. At Regina a lane two blocks wide two miles long was cut through tho city by the storm's violence. All buildings within that areu were levelled. Marvellous escapes aro recorded. Girls occupied in the telephone exchange scrambled over tho ruins of 1 buildings and escaped unscathed to the street. A fifteen ton switchboard foil besido them as they reached the street. A large grain elevator was carried off fifty feet from its accustomed spot. A. clergyman inside a church ran out as the entire building fell about his ears. The damage is definitely set down at £1,000.000. Martial law has been proclaimed and troops are guarding the streets to prevent lawlessness. The death roll is reduced to thirty, but numbers of people are missing. Many were blown into Lake Wascarn and drowned. Other cities are sending help, and tents are being erected for the refugees.
