THE ART SEGTIGM.

The committee cf the Competitions Society, with a new to catering'for all classes cf public teste in matters artistic, decided to add an. art section. The idea grew, and it was decided to improve on this by endeavouring to obtain a number cf. ths .new picturer.' recently purchased by the Arte Society in Wellington from the Bai'lio collection. Mr H. C. Robinson.'took chiarg© of this department, amd it is gratifying to know that his k!bo:srs are to be crowned with .s-noeegs. Yestorday Mir Robinson received an'official totter km the secretary cf the Wellington! Fine' Arts £'oy.-Ay, agreeing to lend to the Mas-terton Society a num'beir Cf very valuable pictures, to be hung during Ooir.fpetit:'on>s week. It,is expected that the collections wjH include the "Matstertcn" picture, "Buchanan" picture, "Beetharn" picture, and the "Wardell" picture. Mr Fenton goes to Wellington on .Salrurday, to make final arrangements, and to .select pictures suitable.
