Mr Syitcs. M.P., -rcce.itly paid a visit toi tho district, and wa>s met hy n, number of the settlers, who urg;d ■upon him the necessity for a bridge over the- Makakahi river. 'The foot-bridge', which was erected by tho (Settlors some yeans ago, ' has been considerably damaged by the recent gales, and hits a distinctly infirm appearance.
