EXPLOSION ON FRENCH WARSHIP
DEMAND FOR DESTRUCTION OF

There is much anxiety over the explosion on the cruiser Jules Michelet last week, bv which four sailors were ■killed and .a 'numhtv of other:., seriously injured, whilst battle practice was being indulged in. The consensus of opinion is that defo'jtivc' ipr.-wc'or err- :i vm tiiii.s.s;on of amylic altohol gases. The* officers are demanding that all powders manufactured up to the present year should bo destroyed. An enquiry into the cause of the disaster has been ordered.
