Tho Rev. D. G. Bat« 8, of the Meteorological Office, this evening issued the following report:—
The barometer rose fast on Saturday and Sunday, with coutherly winds increasing from strong to gale; the weather became very cold and stormy, with rain ..md had, and snow and elect on the higher levels. The sea:/ 1 were very 'luuvy on the East Coast, especially about East Cape, and con-' ditions are. still .somewhat unsettled •there, and in"Eovemix Strait. -■>• Present indications are for moderate to strong southerly 'winds generally, veering to south-easterly northward' aind in Cook Strait, but backing to westerly leilsewhcre, showing about East Capo and in Foveaux Strait, 'and cool and changeable, but with fair weather generally. The baironieter shows little movemenlt, but with a falling tendency shortly in Southern districts.
