To-day is also the forty-finst ainni-' versary cf the establishment -of. the New Zealand branch of the Society, and it is now in. the proud position of- ■ [being the premier Life Office in the jTTominiibin, having a'larger amount of, ;tTusiness on its hecks' than any other. The total policies in. force at 31&t [December last in the oi-din ary department was 42,011, assuring. £14,251,641., including bonus additions, while Tn r the Industrial Department there were 14,952 policieis in .force, assuring '"£531,726. The new business for 1911 was far in excess of any previous y2ar, audi comprised 3324 policies, ; assuring £220,681 in' the Industrial Departmeu*, which, taken altogether, is ■equal to an -assurance of about £1 »s per head of .the whole population of. the Biaminiion.
