Tihe Pelmomb and at the Convention created a violent scene, but the resolution was carried •by a large majority,*'. The police were unable" to-maintain order in the crowded galleries. The Convention adopted a platform lowering the tariff in favour of Canadian products, and for the encouragement of Un.ted States Farmers, with ii view to preventing their emigrating to Canada'. The Convention adjourned late, at nigh't, postponing the. vote on the rumination .for the Presidential candidate. ■
