Cloudy and unsettled weather -prevailed, with heavy rain in parts. The barcm-ctcr rose rti south during the nlight, but had fallen to the northtivard rif "Cook SO;'ait, for low .pressure area :g apparently deiveloping in that direction. .Winds have (been variable and strong to gale, especially cm the 'West Coast, with nor'theirlies predomiwatiing. Present indications ar6 for a fur'ther decrease in the .barometric pressure .n'-evrthward cif .Wefetpor* and Kaikoura., but a' rapid riee will probably follow in about 21 hours. Winds variable and ,&tiron,g to gale, weeteirlies prevailing, and veering to nor}fc ; h!\\<ard of New Plymouth and Napier, and niorthedies backing to south-easterly gale elsewhere. B>ivy train is pirbhaMe generally, with snow 'on; the higher levels, with much colder weather foMow-Jlig soom.
