MASTERTON BOROUGH COUNCIL
ORDINARY MEETING. The ordinary meeting of the Maeteirtoii Borough Council was held last evening, in. the Coun'cil Hiambers, •there being present,— His Worship the Mayor (Mr J. M. Ooradine), and ,Grs. H. J. O'Leary, Elliott, F. W. TJemple, Flanagan, J. Candy, W. Pragnell, J. C. Ewinigton, J. P. Prentice and A. Donald.
A property-owner, now Jiving in PaH-merston North, wrote asking folia itwelve months' remission, of overdue rates, and promising' to pay the balance.— It was explained that Ihe property had now changed hands, and the new owners had made aryange--mewts to payback rates. .It was de icddted to agree to the arrangements .made by the new owner. Aid application was received from the- Mafittertoni': Metbodiist Boys' Club for permi'S&xin: to-use. the miniature rifle range erected' on the property at. the corner of Ohapel and . i.ll Streets.— It was decided that th« application be granted. The Masterton Co-unity Council iwrote/ halting that ,the .Council was prepared to agree to the arrajgeIments .made! in connection! with the H'alnd at the approach to the Sol vay (railway station. ; 'The same body wrote, informing the Borough Council that >t was prepared to pay half the cost entailed in (improving the Road; •the County Engineer to act in u'..>.jurictfoh. with : the 4 ''Borough Engineer. . (i A petition'was received dents rosing South Belt Road; r* 1 - iquesting that the,road be repa'red ats' alb present it was not in a fit tetate for traffic— The Engineer -x----pJained. The monthly report of the Man-vger of-the Municipal Gasworks was rrad j and adopted.
