Mr "Jack" Harris, a well-known pedestrian in the 'seventies, and who field the 10-mile championship of Australasia, died at Greymouth on Friday night, after a short illness, aged sixty-eight. Friends of the Rev. H. S. Woollieombe, who visited Masterton about two years ago on hehalf of the Church -af England Men's Society, will be glad to hoar that, although his doctor has forbidden him to work again after his breakdown in India, the last report of * his health is distinctly. encouraging, * ! says a letter from Home. Deceased was a native of Waterford, Ireland, and "was well-known on the Coast. Mr J. W. Thurston, an old settler of -the Taranaki district, died at l'., WaverJey last week at the age of 66 k years.
