' A large stone axe, about ten inches long, was found a few feet under the surface at Hagley Park, at a plat' "known as "Pilgrim's Corner." It is an the style followed by the ancient Maoris, and is a good sample of workmanship, the edge being very thin. It is stated that the site of the discovery was a favourite meeting pi a™ -of the Maoris in the days before civilasation. "When the discovery was iraade known last wek, a search was ■made the vicinity for more relics. , " 3rat -without any result. The speei-Jmea-has been presented to the Museum. - ' V .
