COMPANY TO BE FORMED
A meeting was held at the Farmers' and Commercial Club in Masterton on Wednesday, of settlers representing the- To Rangitumau, Kopuaranga. Mauriccville, and Mangamahoe districts who wish to join the Masterton telephone bureau. Mr S.- Inder postmaster) and Mr A. Henderson (Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce) were also present. Mr Inder very fully explained the detail of a schemo for connecting with a lino the Department is now erecting from' Masterton. to connect with Aifredton, via Dreyers' Rock Road and Iburaua. He was accorded a hearty vote of thanks for the interest he had taken in assisting the settlers with ail possible information, and withdrew.
After full consideration it was unanimously decided to form a company, and to construct a substantial line, from Mangamaboe to a point on the Opaki three miles from theM asterton Post Office. (The postal' authorities bear cost of all work within three miles radius). A Committee consisting of Messrs C. C. Jackson, J. James, . F. Heckler, and F. W. H. Kummer, and allothers who may be interested, will meet at the Commercial Ofaib every Wednesday, .at 10.30 a.m., until the details are worked out.
It is important that all washing to join the line should notify the Committee at once, as it will be very difficult to come on after the first arrangements have been completed. The total annual cost to subscribers will be £3 ss, plus cost of maintenance, which, of course, largely depends on the ruiality of work and material in. the first place.
