A Melbourne cable states that Mr Gordon Sprigg has resigned the General Secretaryship of the Y.M'.C.A. Mr H. E. : Huston, who has been
employed on the dbrieal..staff at the tMasteirton Oonirthouso for the 'last four and a half years, has been transferred to the Supreme Court at Wel- .. lington. He will be succeeded by Mr Tressider, of Auckland.
Mr P. A. Walker, chemist, of Patea, died at Hawera on Tuesday morning, after a few days' illness. He leaves a widow and a family of three young chiildren. The death is reported at Hamilton of Mr Samuel Jenkinson, as the result of a shock vfolloUiing an accident at Rotoi'uia. The deceased arrived :u

The death occurred in Hastings on Wednesday morning of Mr J. C. Legg, who recently started in business in that township as a baker. Mr T. M. Haslam during the seven years he ha sheen connected with the Masterton school. Mr C. Thomas, who lias been first assistant at the Belvedere cheese factory for .several seasons past, has been * appointed nmnager of a factory just; \ started between Martinborough and ' Lake Perry. Mr E. E. Greathead, manager of the Rexdale cheese factory, Mangamai're, has resigned his position in order to take over the managership of a factory at Manakau, ixnder the New Zealand Dairy Union. A London cable states that Viscount Northland, only son of Lord and Lady Ranfurly, has been married to Miss Hilda Cooper, youngest, daughter of .'the late Sir Davd dCooper.
