Mr Cameron moved that the request 'of the Borough Council be acceded to, providing tho conditions laid down by the Public Works 1)6-par-tment ibe adhered to.

Mr Joseph Morns wrote asking that some repairs be made to the road leading to 'his property at Te Ore Ore.

The Master ton Borough Council wrote in reference to the Ngamatawa 'Road, stating that repair work was 'necessary to ib.& done, .and asking the County Council to .bear half the cost, (estimated at £75). On tlie. motion cif the chairman, it was decided to'(bear half the cost, tlra, County 'Engineer to act in conjunction with the Borough Engineer. The action of .the Engineer in dealing with ; tehderi'for'contracts ' on 20th May was approved.

It .was decided that, in dealing with tenders for contracts in the future, the Engineer l Ibe instructed to confer with the representatives of the Ridings in which the contracts were being let, and also to endeavour to have all 'tends,ns closed en. the day before the monthly meeting. The reports of the 'Finance Committee and Engineer were read acid adopted. The meeting then adjourned.

FINANCE COMMITTEE'S REPORT.

A meeting of the Finance Committee was, held: yesterday morning, there (being present,— Crs C. Kebbell (chairman), J. MiiJer, A. J. Percy, W. J. iWdch, A. Murray and D. J. CaJm^ron. The Treasurer reporfted as follows: Bank: General 'Fund 'account, dr., £39 7s illd j 'Locaft Bodies .Loans account, cr., £o2l 2s j Accounts, cr. Ibialance, £437 2s sd. Accounts amounting to £1362 8s 4d were recommended for payment. Or Murray moved and Cr Miller seconded, that the County Clerk be instructed to. ascertain whether there is- a public right of way in the nature of a track 'through, the Tirauinea Estate, and, if. the reply be in the affirmative, ilb be a recommendation from the Committee to t'he Council to authorise the expenditure of £l2 in terms ,of the application for same from Mr H. W. L&ach. (Carried.) On the motion- of .Cr. Murray, seconded, by tilie chairman, it was decided that a copy car tihte letter received from the Bketbihuna Chamber of Commerce relating to the suggested alteration in the ibciund&ry between the Mastorton and Akifcio Counties, be forwarded to the. latter body, and th' j v be asked to state whether any r.'uch rc-adjustmcin,t of the boundary i« contemplated.

The Ekeitahuna Borough Council wrote, ,asking for information relating to the amount contributed during the past two years by the Alf'redton Siding towards the cost of Hospital and Aid admin ist rait ion in the iWairarapa, Hospital .District. It was decided to supply the information desired.
