MEETING OF COMMITTEE.
The moiiitlily .meeting.-of the .General Committee, of the Masterton A. and P. Association was held oh Saturday last, there being presant:— Messrs H. Morrison (cha'iirman), E. C Harper, H. Evans, G. H. Shaw, E. S'. Allen, B. Gregor junr., W. Cooper, C. F. V-a-I-lance, w'. H. Buick, J. C. McKillop, H. J. James, W. J. Weieh, W. Perry, J. Strang, 15. J. Perry, D. Caselberg, H. J. Dagg, 0. C. Cooper and Q. 'Donald. \
The President congratulated tha ! Coanimittee upon 'being able to take possession, of their new offices. The j Association could congratulate themselves .upon having the best-equippad slhowground in New Zealand. They iliad 1 now a meeting room in keeping with the showgrounds. Buring the last (few weeks the Association had made satisfactory progress,. The stock i fair had been a great success, and had yielded over £BOO. The Minister cif Railways had promised to alter th? name of the Purakau railway station to "Solway," and to improve the railway at show time. In connection wiu.li the .new offices, they had established a. 'room, which -would !be available' for .members for reading and -writing. They hoped eventually to ei&tablash an -agricultural library. In the meantime* he repeated that the Association was .making good headway, and he fasked for their -future motto ,to be "Upward and Onward." (Applause). Mir J. O. MoKiliop tusked if. the writing room -would ibe available for farmers generally. The President replied that members could -bring friends to tthe- room's. .. Mr W. Perry -moved, and it was carried, that shelves -be placed in the {new roams.
' Mr D. Mcdregor mentioned that the .Dominion and ifche two local papers •were already provided free in the rooms. There were also other papers in the room.
Mr W. Perry -suggested that me-m----'bers supply agricurbuiral papers to the rooms.

GROUND' COMMITTEE. The report of the meeting ctf tho >Giround Committee, at which 'Mr "W. tj. Welch presided, was read. The {caretaker .reported having trenched •the ground and planted and fenced hedges at cacti end of the grandfotand lawn; planted and fenced off •.cornea-,s of stock paddocks; replaced trees around ring; planted fifty •cablbage trees at various points on the grounds; and was now engaged in -.creek deviation, .which he hoped to ihave finished on June Bth. His next »n'ork 'would be the preparation of loowier bed® in ,the corners in front- of *lthe ilawn and planting the ibank's of ♦creek deviation. On the motion of ■Mr MoGiregoi',. the caretaker was authorised to procure the necessary maAerial (for making .thirty or forty srbrettikers for use at show time. It was ■ »Jeoided that Mr Gray instruct the icairetaker re the topping of trees in »:lie avenue and on the western side ■of the bush, which should be taken in •hand at an early date.
FINANCE COMMITTEE
The 'Finance Committee (presided •over !by Mr <3r. C. Summerell) submitted its report. The Treasurer's state<manit showed receipts for the month amounting to £471 10s lOd, and ex/pendLtnire .£4B 2s sd. The debit bal- } lanoe shown Iby the pass-hook was | £1274 2s lOd. Aeeouoits amounting to '£B4 4s Id;were passed for payment. The secretary reported that the proiceeds of the recent stock fair, with cash donations, amounted to £716 Is Id. .With s the addition of the proceeds of /the gift rams at the ram if air, the ibotal result of the special effort was &559 17s 4d, Tho Finance lOommittee recommended that rfche use of the roomsjbe granted to the Horticultural Society, and
*hat the annual meeting of the Association 'he Jield on July 28th. It was -suggested rthat the Finance Comrait,tee meet early in July -to go through she annual balance sheet. The report was adopted.
NEW MEMBERS.
Six now imcmibers were elected.
