Mr Francis Le Noury, who has been a resident of Wellington for nearly thirty-eight years, died at liis residenoe in Herbert Street on Wednesday, aged sixty-five years. The ,d«oeased was a native of Guernsey, Channel Islands.
Master B. Brunton, of Masterton, ■who has been selected as one of the twenty ..cadets to proceed to Canada, and who, leaves for the military oamp at Trerilfyam to-day, was presented on Saturddy" by the staff of Messrs DaJgety'/"and Co. with a handsome iing'nig. The presentation was made by Mr A. D. Lowe, in the unavoidable absence of Mr J. B. Moodie.
the death occurred on Friday of Mr John Stubbs, a,ni old resident of Palmerston North. The deceased, who •tfas 66 years' of age, was bom'at Wilton, Cumberland, England,, and ar-, xived in New v Zealand in February, 1880. He took upland in the ~Kai.ranga .ranga immediately after his arrival, and later entered the hosiery business in Palmerston. Eleven years ago ho removed his business to Wellington, Mt returned to Palmerston again six years later. The Marlborough Press says:—Mr diaries Taylor, who has been on the staff of the Marlborough Press for six years, has been offered and has accepted an important position in the office of the Wairarapn, Age, Masterton, and will leave Picton by Saturday evening's steamer to take -up his new duties. Whilst regretting to lose the services of Mr Taylor, who 'has proved <a thoroughly competent and trustworthy employee, we were pleased to recommend him for the position, which we feel sure 'he will fill with credit to himself and m the best interests of the firm with which he is identified. Mr Taylor has been a prominent member, of the Picton;Bras? Band for some years past, and will be missed by his comrades.
