THE NEW COURTHOUSE.

For the last five oi\ six months Masterton has been in possession of a new Courthouse, constructed at a cost of £6OOO or £7OOO. Visitors—including the Minister of 'Justice—have inspected it and pronminced themselves delighted with the externail aspect. So far as can be ascertained, however, there is no prospect of its being anything more than ■an attraction to visitors for some time to come. With the exception of a ifew rolls of linoleum, there is not a stick of furniture in it. Whether the Public Work's Department is waiting for a slice of the four million loan before it launches out in the way of furniture, we cannot cay. We .do say, however, that the delay in opening this 'new' building, is discreditable to aOl concerned.
