The Australians hatted first and made 255. In the Cambridge University team, Lagden, Franklin, Susskind and Grier. son replaced Patterson, Sullivan, Arnold and H. Mulholla-nd, who played ■against South Africa. The weather was warm and cloudy, and the wicket sottish. There were 2000 spectators present. Cambridge won the toss, and sent the visitor in to bat. Jennings and Kelleway faced the i bowling of Holloway and Griersou. A poor stand was made for the first i wicket, Kelleway playing Griersou on \ when only 18 was on the board. There was a better stand for the [second wicket, Macartney and Jennings adding 40 to the score. The 'former batted in a stylish manner. Jennings was run out as the result of a smart return from cover by Savillc. He played a faultless innings, iand was brilliant on tho leg side. He lift eight fours and batted for 100 minutes. i The partnership between Macartney j and Bardsley added 62 runs to the i score. Bardsley made 35. He gavea c-lionco when seven, at square-leg. At the lunch adjournment; the score stood at 3 for 129. Th© century was hoisted in ninety minutes. On resuming, the weather was swtuiy and the wicket easy. Holloway ■and Kidd took up the bowling. , Gregory did not stay long, and shortly • afterwards Bardsley was smartly taken at the wickets.
