BIRTHDAY CONGRATULATIONS
TO HIS MAJESTY THE KING. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CEIRISTCHURCH, Last Nip- 1 Kis Majesty the King is Honorary Colonel of the Ist Regiment of Infantry (Canterbury). Yesterday, on the occasion of King's Birthday, Lieut. Colonel Smith sent the following cablegram to His Majesty in London : "Ist' Regiment Infantry has*' honour to offer congratulations and assurances of loyalty to the Throne and Empire.—George J. Smith, Lieut.-Col'onel." This morning the following reply was received from His Majesty: — "London, June 3, 1912. Lieut. Col. Geo. Smith, Ist Regiment Infantry, ' Christchurcli.—Please convey my sincere thanks to all ranks of the Ist Regiment of Infantry, , New Zealand, for their expressions of loyalty and good wishes.—GEOßGE, K and I."'
