HARRIERS CLUB
FIRST RACE. A three-mile cross country race was irun at LanWdowuie yesterday, starting and ifimkihing at the residence of Mr P. L. Hollings, who presented a gold (medal for the winner. The hares (Messrs W. W'hyte ar.id S. Ki'ng&ton) laid the tirilil over a full distance, and tlwenty-twio competitors started. B. Young (20secs.) proved the winner, his time being 31min. lOseos. J. Brpjcllbury (sot.) ran second, and C. CYothero (80sec,s.) third. After the run the competitors were entertained at afternoon tea by-Mr Hollings, and besides the members of the Club, Dr Oowie (Patiron), Mr S. R. F*d wards (President), and severafl Vice-Presid-ents were present. A.fiter tea had been partaken of, Mr Hillings, in a. neait speech, presented the medal to the vjiinner, and congratulated him on hi i win. The recipient suitably responded. 'Several .memlbers of the Club spoke, thanking the host for liis hospitality, and Mr Hjollings was given three .hearty cheers ait the conclusion of the diiiy's outing.
