MASTERTON HARRIER CLUB.

On Thursday afternoon the Master- j ton Harrier Club journeyed to .Mr F. W. H. Rummer's, Mauriceville, where J a most enjoyable paper chase was held' over 'his property. The trail was laid by the hares in a circular direction 'from the homestead, over, a distance of -about four miles, ultimately leading j back to'the starting place. Some stiff hills were encountered, and the harriers had t'ho first experience of genuine cross country runnihg. Tlie run for home saw the popular secretary ofthe Club (Mr W. Drummonxl) win by a fair margin. j At the end of the run, after they had enjoyed amucli-needed bath, the members \Vere entertained at tea by Mr and Mrs Kummer. Several honorary members of the club, including ,M. G. 11. Sykes, M.P., vice-president, accompanied the members to iMauriceville, and m every way the outing was exceptionally enjoyable. Before leaving for Jiome, the vicecaptain (Mr J. Bradbury), who in charge, thanked Mr and Mrs Kum r j mer for their hospitality. Mr G. R. Sykes :spoke in similar terms, and Mr Kummer, ini responding, mentioned that it gave him great pleasure to enciouriaige i» every way such a good pastime as ha mer After'tea music and billiards were indulged in r and the singing of "Tliey are Jolly Good Fellows'' ■ brougk -a. pleasant.day's outing to a close.
