THOMPSON-PAYNE PICTURES. "THE POWER OF LOVE." A packed house greeted the change of programme' at Masterton's popular 'house of amusement —the Eortisters' Hall—last evening. The prcgranrais -was an excellent one in .aU respects, comprising pictures to suit all tastes, and presented by Mr H. Harrison in a manner which reflected the greatest •credit upon him. The great star picture of the programme was "The Power of Love," a film 3000 ft«t long, and produced by .the Nordisk Cbm'pany. "The Power of Love" was a type of drama which immediately found favour. The theme was a deilightful one,, while the acting-and pho-. .togiopby was excellent. Ihe picture Showed city life with all its fascinations, and all its temptations. A great xailiway .smash is shown, and is an excellent piece of work, .bringing forth Altogether"it'isja-»-splendid picture, that should not be >m*9=te3... Another capital drama;- -MaA x ■;that entitled : "A" Question:. of ' Sec- J ■lends.'' It is an attractive picture, :with, an 'abundance- of sen'sation'in tit," and deals with an attack by strikers' •on a rmemher of the office istaff, who takes up a defensive position. Another very interesting dra'ma< was that entitled "Billy's Stratagem," depicting an exciting struggle with Indians. Other pictures worthy of special mention-are "The Spartan Mother," "Oxford and Cambridge Boat .-Race," "The Grand.National Steeplechase at Liverpool," "Ihe Champion Lady Swimmers," "Frontier Girl's Courage" (a thrilling drama by the Selig Company), "The Horse of the Regiment" (.screaming comic), and "The-' Fatal Chocdlate" (a delightful comedy). The current programme, which is the finest seen in Masterton for.,some 'time past, will' be presented again tonight. The children's matinee will. take place on Saturday, at 2.30 pirn. ' On Monday next a 'beautiful film of Lake W'aikaremoana and the locality will be shown. The picture was taken recently by Mr H. W. Thompson, and gives an excellent idea cf the grandeur of the country, and shows all the interesting spots.
